Former Steelers Receiver Antonio Brown Now Faces Serious Looming Charges As Warrant Issued

author image

Former Pittsburgh Steelers superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown is back in the news. Once again, it's not for his legendary abilities in catching a football. Rather, it's for his continued troubles off the field. On Thursday, it was reported that there is a warrant out for Brown's arrest in Tampa, Florida. The warrant is for domestic issues revolving the mother of his children, as reported by Kevin O'Donnell of Tampa's FOX affiliate. Now, he's obviously facing serious legal issues. In the past, he's avoided some things, but now, perhaps not.

UPDATE - Police are not attempting to take Brown into custody. Reports are being floated around that Brown is currently having a standoff with police but according to NBC those are false. Sam Brock for NBC News is reporting that Tampa police don't even know if Brown is at his house. There has been no communication between the two sides.

Brown resides in Florida, a place in which he's gone through troubles over the years. He's been in trouble several times over the years, including with the mother of his children. Somehow, he returned to the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reuniting with former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Last season, in something that we've never really seen, Brown walked off the field in the middle of a game with both of his middle fingers. That marked the end of a remarkable NFL career, but one that is now obviously tainted. Since then, he's been accused of sexual assault, attacking a delivery truck driver, and other run-ins with the law. At the tail end of his tumultuous career, he was suspended by the NFL for supplying them with a fake vaccination card.

While the seven-time Pro Bowler has an argument for being the best wideout in black and gold history, his reputation is all but ruined these days. For a guy that racked up 11,207 receiving yards and 83 total touchdowns in nine years in Pittsburgh, that's quite hard to do.
