Pittsburgh Steelers fans, your wish has not been granted. After the Indianapolis Colts fired their offensive coordinator Tuesday morning, fans hoped that would be a sign of things to come. Coming off a 35-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend, the offense continued to show zero signs of life.

Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been the main source of criticism amidst the offense's struggles over the past two seasons now. While it's always been unlikely that the team would fire a coach in the middle of the season, fans held out hope that this would be the one exception. Steelers beat reporter, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, reported that the team will not be making any changes to their coaching staff during this week's bye:
Pretty much QB coach Mike Sullivan said they went trough coaching meetings and everything will remain status quo in term of coaching responsibilities

As he reported, quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan was the one that said there would be no changes. Over the past few weeks, head coach Mike Tomlin has told the media that he would be open to making changes. Sullivan would likely be the temporary replacement if Canada were fired in the middle of the season. With Canada now likely sticking around until the off-season, Sullivan will be the favorite for the job.

The Steelers typically like to hire within the organization, thus why Sullivan's name will be the first one discussed. Regardless, this isn't the news any Steelers fan wanted to hear. This past weekend, they officially passed the Denver Broncos as the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL. They're in the bottom-10 in nearly every offensive category, including passing and rushing offensive stats.
For those who were calling for Tomlin's job as well, he will stick around as well. Something would have to go tragically wrong for the Steelers to even consider cutting ties with their head coach after the season. While the team is 2-6 at the moment and he deserves some blame, Tomlin remains one of the best coaches in all of football.
What are your thoughts on the team not making any changes to the coaching staff? Should they fire Canada now, or wait until the off-season? Who should they look at hiring as the new OC in the off-season? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below. Be sure to interact with our social media sites as well!
