The Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need a bruiser, old-school kind of offensive lineman. Their five top linemen started all 17 games this past season, and they exceeded expectations. After struggling in training camp and the preseason, the unit was soon led by free agent signings James Daniels and Mason Cole to a productive regular season.

To take that next step, the unit needs a truly elite presence that has a mean streak to him. That's why Steelers super fan, Jersey Jerry of Barstool Sports, has been lobbying hard for Tennessee Titans left tackle, Taylor Lewan. Jerry has posted several photoshops of Lewan in a Steelers uniform, to which Lewan has entertained on Twitter.
You may be wondering, Lewan is still under contract with the Titans. While that holds true for now, he has been transparent about his status with the team. With two ACL surgeries in the past three seasons, Lewan has been forthcoming on his podcast Bussin' With The Boys that he will likely be cut this off-season.

If he is indeed cut, he may not even end up signing with another NFL team. Lewan wants to be able to return to an elite level if he does decide to play a 10th season in the NFL. The Steelers' current left tackle, Dan Moore Jr., has shown nothing special in his two seasons in the league. Lewan appeared on Jerry's podcast Steel Here with Kevin Adams. Jerry played the role of general manager, Omar Khan, pitching different contracts to Lewan.

Once Jerry's offer got to one-year, $10 million, Lewan's answer shifted to "maybe." Throughout the podcast, he professed his admiration for head coach Mike Tomlin, one that he'd love to play for. It seems as if he would have some genuine interest in coming to Pittsburgh if it was mutual.
Jerry also offered a one-year, $12.5 million deal to the Titans offensive lineman. After a long pause, Lewan gave the same answer of "maybe." In other words, he didn't want to give himself up in case these contract negotiations come up. The lineman has also discussed how much he likes the Steelers colors, yet another signal that he would be interested.
Of course, other factors would have to work out. Lewan would have to be released first, and his ongoing recovery from ACL surgery would have to go well. If those things happen though, Khan should at least pick up the phone and call Lewan and/or his agent. A three-time Pro Bowler, he would bring a tenacity that the black and gold haven't had since the days of Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro.

What would you offer to Lewan if you were Khan? Could he elevate the OL into being one of the best in the league again? As a fan, do you think the team should go after Lewan if he becomes a free agent? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
