Steelers' Mike Tomlin Reveals The 1 Thing He Can't Stand About The Great City Of Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the deepest tight end rooms in recent memory. The unit is led by Pat Freiermuth and also includes veteran, Zach Gentry along with second-year hybrid player, Connor Heyward and massive rookie, Darnell Washington. It was believed in the beginning of the 2023 offseason that the team may target the position in the 2023 NFL Draft and let Gentry find a new home. The latter did not end up being the case and fans of the iconic franchise let out a sigh of relief. Not just because Gentry, a strong blocking tight end would return, but also because it meant that Grillin' N' Chillin' with Freiermuth would be back again.

The segments are always comical as the two tight ends sit around a small grill while they pretend to be cooking. They have conversations with each other and special guests. It has allowed the fanbase to really get to know Gentry, who may have a career in comedy after he hangs up his cleats. The most recent short episode featured none other than Head Coach, Mike Tomlin.

Tomlin is known for his 'Tomlinisms' and being extremely short with the media. He often dodges questions and typically never gives the proper answers that everybody wants to hear. This interview was a bit different as the team's leader was open with two of his tight ends. The trio laughed a bunch and Gentry asked the tough questions like which way Tomlin puts his toilet paper on the holder.

Gentry attempted to trap Tomlin into talking poorly about the city that he has lived in since 2007. He asked what his least favorite part of Pittsburgh is and, after he thought about it for a second, gave an extremely relatable answer.

"Road construction is ridiculous. You can never anticipate it. It never happens in off hours. It's like they start fixing bridges at 9am when everyone's on 'em. That's my one complaint," Tomlin said.

Anyone who has ever been to or lives near the city of Pittsburgh is aware that Tomlin is spot on. There is constantly road work going on everywhere and it always seems to be at the most inopportune times.

Gentry turned Tomlin's answer into a bit of a joke and pretended to break the news that the head coach would be leaving the Steelers to go coach college football because of the awful road construction in Pittsburgh. This, of course, was Gentry making fun of the situation that happened in 2021 when Tomlin scolded a reporter for asking him about rumors regarding him making the move to college football.

"That's breaking news. Coach Tomlin hates the city and he's out," Gentry joked.

Tomlin wasn't done making light of the subject and brought up his hilarious booster comment from 2021.

"You know it's gotta be a pretty big booster," Tomlin said as they all laughed.

It was cool to see Tomlin sitting with two of his offensive players while they all seemed extremely laid back. The conversation was extremely funny, but now we have a little bit of an idea of what the head coach strongly dislikes in the city. Who can blame him, though?

It's all fun and games now, especially during Grillin' N Chilln', but the season is rapidly approaching and the Steelers have the chance to compete for an AFC North Division Title. We can hope that the construction all over Pittsburgh doesn't lead to Tomlin or any of his players being late to Acrisure Stadium during the 2023 home games.
