Steeler Nation has been cackling at the trade between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears for almost a year now, and the laughter will not stop. Chase Claypool has been nothing but a headache since leaving Pittsburgh, which lead to him being a healthy scratch for their Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Shortly after that announcement, NFL insider, Jordan Schultz came out with another report that implies that the Bears want to get rid of Claypool as fast as humanly possible, despite giving up the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to get him in the first place.

Steelers Clear Winner In Trade With Bears
Claypool showed terrible effort all throughout the Bears Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers, which almost got him benched, until he eventually apologized for it. After a miserable Week 3 showing against the Kansas City Chiefs, he was asked if the Bears were using him correctly. After a long pause, his only response was "no." Those were the main reasons that he was benched for Week 4, but it gets worse for all parties involved.
Schultz reported that the Bears are already looking to trade away their prize from the 2022 trade deadline. Not only do they want to get rid of him, but they won't even try to come close to asking for a similar return as they gave up to acquire him. The Bears are reportedly looking for a day three pick for Claypool, despite giving the Steelers a high pick in round two. Even without hindsight, it was known that the pick that the Bears gave up would be high.

GM Ryan Poles has been actively calling teams he believes are in the market for a receiver.

It gets worse when you see that Ryan Poles is desperately looking for any sort of value in trade talks. He is losing any leverage he has by calling up team after team and asking them to give him any sort of value for Claypool. With this report, it's safe to assume that Claypool has played his last snap in Chicago, even if he does not get traded as soon as Poles is hoping for.

Karl Roser / Pittsburgh Steelers
After an injury to fellow rookie Cory Trice Jr., the pressure is even greater on Steelers second-rounder Joey Porter Jr. to step in and contribute immediately.
Meanwhile, the Steelers have been waiting to get Joey Porter Jr. going in his rookie season, but with the few snaps that he has had, he has already looked like the team's future at cornerback. He has only given up two completions on five targets on 48 defensive snaps, as well as having a pass defended through the first three weeks. He is looking like the physical lockdown corner that the Steelers were anticipating when they drafted him.
Even if Porter does not live up to his draft stock, it will be borderline impossible to consider this trade a loss for the Steelers. The Steelers are looking to work Porter into the game slowly, while the Bears want to get rid of Claypool as soon as possible. He is showing everything what exactly infuriated Steelers fans for a couple years, and then some. His mind was not in the game all the time, and it would lead to terrible moments, like celebrating a first down while letting clock run down during a comeback attempt versus the Minnesota Vikings.

No matter what happens, Claypool's chances of being a big piece in an offense is all but over. The hype from this four-touchdown game has withered quickly, and the Bears were unable to fix him. Whoever trades for him will most likely keep him as depth and let him walk in free agency barring a sudden change of heart by Claypool.
