The Pittsburgh Steelers second-year quarterback, Kenny Pickett has been ruled out for the remainder of the Steelers Week 8 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers offense got off to a slow start, as has been typical in the 2023 season. Pickett was hurt on the last drive of the first half as the Steelers tried to be aggressive before halftime in an attempt to put more points on the board.

Steelers' Pickett Suffers Injury Against Jaguars
Pickett was hurt on a pass play where the throw was deflected by the Jaguars defense and Pickett was driven into the ground. Pickett went directly into the locker room for evaluation, and was diagnosed with a rib injury. No further details have been provided on the severity of the injury. Some thought the play should have resulted in a roughing the passer injury, as Pickett was body slammed into the ground aggressively with the defenders entire body weight landing on top of him.

The Steelers were hoping to get points out of their final drive before the half, and when Pickett exited the game they were right on the edge of field goal range. Mitch Trubisky came in to finish the second half, and didn't move the ball at all in the minimal amount of time that was left in the first half.
Chris Boswell came in to attempt a 55-yard field goal in harsh conditions, and made it but the Steelers were called for an offensive offsides which wiped the three points off of the board. Boswell then missed the ensuing 58 yard field goal and the Steelers went into the half down 9-3.

This isn't the first time Pickett has been injured on the year. He suffered a knee injury in Week 4 against the Houston Texans which kept him out for the remainder of that game. Pickett came out of the locker room after half time after being diagnosed with a rib injury against Jacksonville, and was seen throwing the ball on the sideline with his helmet on in an attempt to re-enter the game. Unfortunately, Pickett was ruled out for the remainder of the game after warming up. He clearly did not feel comfortable throwing the ball and the rib injury was bothering him.
Trubisky will play the remainder of the game for the Steelers as they look to over come the deficit and climb their way to a 5-2 record against the Jaguars. More details should be coming out after the game and during the next week about the severity of Pickett's rib injury, and obviously all Steelers fans are hoping for Pickett to make a quick recovery. The team has a quick turnaround this week as they take on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football in Week 9.
