The Pittsburgh Steelers grabbed headlines earlier this offseason by announcing their acquisition of former Baltimore Ravens linebacker, Patrick Queen. However, their interest in the linebacker position remains fervent. Welcoming a slew of linebacker prospects for visits hints at the Steelers' contemplation of selecting a linebacker on the 2024 NFL Draft's second or third day.

While uncertainties persist regarding which linebackers will return for the 2024 season, the Steelers have demonstrated their keen focus on bolstering this area. Their latest visitor, Khaleke Hudson, is a relatively unknown and underrated linebacker. It was revealed on Tuesday by Aaron Wilson that the Steelers hosted Hudson on a visit.

Hudson, primarily an outside linebacker, has yet to make a significant impact in his four-year NFL career. Limited playing time has hindered his ability to showcase his talents, with just 12 career starts. All of his NFL experience comes from his tenure with the Washington Commanders. However, in 2023, he enjoyed increased playing time, starting in eight games. During this season, he tallied two passes defensed and combined for 74 tackles, marking his most productive year to date. Additionally, he contributed a sack and five tackles for loss, indicating potential for growth and improvement.

Hudson embarked on his NFL journey as a safety, spending his initial three seasons in this role. However, a transition to linebacker during the 2023 season sparked a surge in his on-field productivity. This shift suggests that linebacker may be his future position of choice.

Now, as a free agent for the first time in his career, Hudson's trajectory becomes an intriguing storyline to watch unfold. It remains unclear what the Steelers purpose of the visit was but it does suggest they have some type of interest in the 26 year old outside linebacker. The idea of bringing in Hudson doesn't really move the needle a ton. It's a little move that could make some sense. It'll be interesting to see if the Steelers extend an offer to Hudson.

Steelers Showing Interest In Linebacker From McKeesport, Pennsylvania

The linebacker recently hosted by the Steelers hails from McKeesport, a city nestled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Hudson's roots run deep in the area, having both grown up and attended high school in the city. A mere 26-minute drive separates McKeesport from Pittsburgh, rendering him intimately familiar with the region. Welcoming a local talent with hometown ties is always a source of excitement.

Mark Kaboly, the Steelers reporter for The Athletic, shared a post about the free agent from McKeesport. Though not the most coveted free agent on the market, Hudson enters the fray fresh off a notably productive season. The extent of the Steelers' genuine interest remains to be seen, making his potential acquisition an intriguing prospect.
