Porter, known for his physical style of play, occasionally gets too aggressive with opposing receivers. This has led to several flags against him, and fans are hopeful he can refine his technique to reduce these penalties. During the Steelers' first preseason game against the Houston Texans, Porter played a limited role but was still in the spotlight.

In the third defensive series of the game, Porter was penalized for pass interference. The penalty occurred when Texans wide receiver Robert Woods caught a pass for a 24-yard gain. Although such penalties are not uncommon, there is a concern among fans that this could become a recurring issue for Porter.

After practice on Monday, Chris Adamski spoke with Porter about the penalty. Adamski addressed the pass interference call from the Steelers' 20-12 loss to the Texans, seeking Porter's perspective on the situation.

"There’s always work to be done. I just try to stack my days and get stuff that I want off of my tape," Porter said. "I had a call and didn’t like it, but it’s preseason and you got to work on stuff like that. We just want to be grinding every day."

Fans and analysts will be closely watching to see if Porter can refine his play and reduce costly penalties, while continuing to develop into a standout cornerback. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Porter, and he lived up to the hype during his rookie season. As he enters his second year, the expectations are even higher, and the Steelers will need him to elevate his game further in 2024.

During training camp, with officials present to enforce rules, Porter faced similar flag issues. This was in the lead-up to the Steelers' preseason game against the Texans. When asked about the officiating during camp, Porter acknowledged the penalties, highlighting his need to adjust his approach to minimize these infractions. However, he tries to not let what the officials tell him dictate how he plays the game of football.

"Yeah, they talk to me about it here and there. I don’t let it play a factor in my game too much."

Porter is an impressive young player with immense potential. The Steelers were in need of a dynamic lockdown cornerback, and Porter brings that swagger to the field. He’s not shy about making bold statements, and he consistently backs them up with strong performances.

Even as a rookie Porter was seen going at players like DK Metcalf with some serious trash talk. While you never want to poke the bear, it's nice to have a player who attempts to intimidate his opponent in the secondary. As long as Porter backs it up.

However, his aggressive style sometimes leads to penalties, which is the main critique of his game. Despite this, Porter sees his physicality as a strength and is reluctant to abandon that part of his approach. If he can clean it up a little bit it will greatly improve his performance.
