The Pittsburgh Steelers defense carried them to a victory in Week 1 when the offense failed to find the end zone a single time. A big reason the defense played so well were the new additions. DeShon Elliott and Donte Jackson each had an interception, while Payton Wilson made some crucial and timely tackles. Patrick Queen flew under the radar, but was still a force in stopping the run in the Week 1 victory.

Queen was a much anticipated signing for Pittsburgh, especially since they stole him from the Baltimore Ravens. He had a breakout season in 2023, and is hoping to carry that success into the 2024 season with the Steelers. That may have to wait, as the standout linebacker was featured on the injury report Thursday. He was not a participant in practice due to an apparent groin injury.

Thankfully, the Steelers have good linebackers in Wilson and Elandon Roberts to hold down the fort for Queen if he does end up missing the Week 2 matchup against the Denver Broncos. It's unclear how serious of an injury Queen has, but he was held out of practice on Thursday. The team may decide to exercise some precaution and keep him out of Sunday's game, but that would mean the Steelers missing a key defensive piece. Not only is Queen a great player, but he is also the green dot. He is the quarterback of the defense, and it is crucial he is out there in Denver.

Steelers Get Good News Regarding Injured Rookie
One Steelers rookie who hasn't been mentioned a lot is wide receiver Roman Wilson. Wilson was injured early on in training camp on the first day of pads, and has been recovering from a sprained ankle ever since. He didn't appear in any preseason games, and fans are anxious to seem him out on the field. Sunday against Broncos may be when the rookie makes his debut, as he was a full participant in practice on Thursday.

DNP: Patrick Queen (groin), Isaac Seumalo & Cam Heyward (rest)
LIM: Russell Wilson & Darius Rush
FULL: Roman Wilson, Dan Moore & Larry Ogunjobi
This marks the first time that Wilson has been a full participant in practice since spraining his ankle. He probably won't see the field much on Sunday, and he may even remain inactive. However, the silver-lining is that the rookie is ready to go. He'll be ready to contribute to the offense whenever Head Coach Mike Tomlin decides to put him out there.
