The Pittsburgh Steelers had a tumultuous 2024 offseason when it came to wide receiver trade rumors. The most popular name linked to the organization was San Francisco 49ers' pass-catcher Brandon Aiyuk. At the end of the day, General Manager Omar Khan couldn't get a deal done and the wideout ended up re-signing with the team that drafted him out West. Through three games, Pittsburgh is 3-0, but their concern remains when it comes to the wide receiver position. Calvin Austin III was phenomenal in Week 3, but no one is quite sure if that kind of play is sustainable for the third-year player.

After a hot start to the 2024 campaign, fans are likely to be calling for Khan to be active at the trade deadline if the team is in a position to win the AFC North. A brutal end-of-season stretch will demand consistent play from all three phases of the game. That might lead to a potential deal that lands Pittsburgh a starting-caliber wide receiver to pair with George Pickens.
Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN contributed to a Week 4 buzz article, and an intriguing part came up when referring to the Steelers and the wideout position. Making a move for a pass-catcher is likely to be on the table for Khan, and there are a couple names to keep an eye on.
"I expect them to continue to monitor the receiver trade market as the deadline approaches, Tennessee's DeAndre Hopkins and Jacksonville's Christian Kirk are two veterans who could conceivably become available and might be appealing to the Steelers."
It certainly would be interesting for the Steelers to go out and make a move for a wide receiver. The offense hasn't been superb through three weeks, and a reliable wideout could be the last piece to the puzzle.

Khan has been aggressive during his time as the organization's general manager. The target of a potential trade remains to be seen, as most of the summer saw the franchise being linked to Aiyuk, who is now off the market. DeAndre Hopkins is a fun name to envision in the black and gold. He is 32 years of age, but proving that he still has plenty of game left in him. The Tennessee Titans sit at 0-3 and could absolutely be sellers at the deadline.
Christian Kirk is another intriguing name, but has a massive contract tying him to the Jacksonville Jaguars through the 2025 season. Hopkins is much more affordable and will be a free agent in 2025. He would be looked at as a rental player with the ability to join an organization eyeing a postseason run. Due to his age and contract status, it might not cost Khan too much draft capital.

Steelers Have Yet To See Rookie Wide Receiver In Action
Pittsburgh may not have to be aggressive come the trade deadline if Roman Wilson returns from injury and is extremely impressive. The rookie wideout was healthy and ready to go in Week 3, but Head Coach Mike Tomlin seems to want to ease him into the NFL world. It would be rather surprising if he was inactive again in Week 4, but he could be the missing piece to the puzzle that puts the wide receiving corps over the top.
