The Pittsburgh Steelers made a strong push to acquire San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during the 2024 offseason. On multiple occasions, fans and even the Steelers reportedly believed a deal was in place to bring Aiyuk to Pittsburgh. However, the trade never materialized, and Aiyuk ultimately re-signed with the 49ers, remaining with the team that drafted him. It was an annoying saga for Steelers fans but they did feel as if they missed out.

Now, Steelers General Manager Omar Khan and his team have a chance to redeem themselves after missing out on Aiyuk. Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams has requested a trade, and it seems likely he will be moved, with many teams expressing interest. The Steelers have already reached out to the Raiders about a potential deal for Adams.

On Saturday, Dianna Russini reported that Pittsburgh has made an "aggressive offer" for Adams. While the specifics haven't been disclosed, it's safe to assume it involves a significant trade package.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers, who you may recall were interested in trading for Brandon Aiyuk before he signed an extension with San Francisco this summer, are also in touch with the Raiders’ front office. I’m told Pittsburgh is making an aggressive offer."

The Raiders reportedly want a trade package centered around a second-round pick for Adams. The cost to acquire Adams for the 2024 season is $13.5 million, and that price will decrease as the season progresses. Every game that goes on, Adams becomes cheaper.

The Steelers currently have $10,558,536 in available cap space for 2024, meaning if they were to finalize a trade before the deadline, they would likely need to restructure contracts and make some financial adjustments. However, it's feasible for them to afford Adams.

Khan understands the urgency. While the offense has shown promise with Justin Fields and George Pickens, there's a noticeable drop-off in wide receiver talent after Pickens. The Steelers have built a strong roster, and many believe their biggest need is at wide receiver. Adding Adams via trade would send shockwaves through the league and immediately elevate the Steelers to contender status.

Steelers Appear To Be Legit Contenders To Land Raiders' Adams

Adams is reportedly eager for a trade to the New York Jets, hoping to reunite with former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, without a no-trade clause, Adams has no say in where he lands, leaving the Raiders to prioritize the best deal on the table. If Pittsburgh's rumored offer is that aggressive, they may be serious contenders to land Adams.

The Steelers have a well-constructed team, with a defense that has consistently performed at a high level and an offense that’s starting to find its rhythm. Landing Adams would instantly elevate the offense, giving Fields another star veteran receiver to boost his confidence and help secure wins.

As of Saturday, it seems the Steelers are genuinely serious about pursuing Adams. Khan has been aggressive and doesn't want to miss out this time. Steeler Nation will be eager to see what the offer entails and whether it’s enough to bring Adams to Pittsburgh. The Steelers obviously aren't the only team with a lot of interest in Adams. However, if the offer is that aggressive maybe they have sent the greatest offer so far.
