The Pittsburgh Steelers finally made a wide receiver trade after months of trying to acquire one. On Tuesday afternoon, the Steelers traded a fifth-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for wide receiver Mike Williams. Williams has been linked to the Steelers in recent weeks, but nothing came to fruition until Tuesday a few hours before the trade deadline. Receivers like Darius Slayton and Adam Thielen were circulating around the Steelers, but no deals could be agreed on. The Steelers will also take on Williams' salary for the rest of the season and will become a free agent in 2025.

Omar Khan waited until the last few hours of the trade deadline, but he finally got the deal done to add another wide receiver in the Steelers' locker room. The Steelers saw Williams up close in Week 7 when he was still on the Jets. Aaron Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show Tuesday when the news broke and he had positive words for his now formers wide receiver.

Rodgers said after Williams' injury last season, he saw the wide receiver work really hard to get back to playing. He also noted Williams was getting better each week they played and that his veteran presence will be good in the Steelers locker room. Rodgers did hint that he knew Williams could be gone as his targets would be less once the Jets acquired Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Williams has had a slow start to this season in a loaded Jets receiver room, only having 166 receiving yards. However, Williams shined while on the Los Angeles Chargers, having two 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He's a great deep ball threat and will take the pressure off of George Pickens, who has been the clear leading wide receiver for the Steelers.

Steelers' Offense May Be Complete Now
With the addition of Williams to the Steelers' offense, time will tell if he was the "missing piece" to the team. The Steelers passing game wasn't off to a strong start under Justin Fields, but once Russell Wilson came in that changed. Wide receivers like Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III were getting more looks and chances, the two even scoring a touchdown the past two games. Some were wondering if the Steelers even needed a wide receiver, but Khan essentially made the move to get a weapon for the offense.
Williams will look to get his debut start with the Steelers Sunday against the Washington Commanders. How he'll be used in the offense in unclear, but it'll probably come out as the week goes on.
Will Williams make any difference to the Steelers' offense? Was he worth trading for? Let us know in the comments below!
