The interception came after George Pickens, his intended target, was thrown to the ground, leaving the defensive back with an easy catch. While Wilson excelled, Pickens had a challenging game mentally, highlighted by two critical penalties that left fans frustrated. His struggles raised questions about focus and discipline, but the coaching staff and teammates rallied around him to keep his spirits high. Wilson played a key role in ensuring Pickens stayed engaged, encouraging him to remain focused on the team’s ultimate goal.

Wilson’s efforts to support Pickens highlighted his leadership both on and off the field. After the game, Wilson addressed the media and didn’t shy away from discussing Pickens’ unsportsmanlike conduct and taunting penalties. He spoke candidly about the conversations he had with Pickens during the game, emphasizing how he guided the young receiver through a challenging and frustrating outing.

"First of all, I talked to him throughout the game just making sure he kept his head clear and all that," Wilson said. "I thought he did a good job of responding."

Wilson expressed satisfaction with how Pickens responded to the adversity. Despite the early frustrations, Pickens delivered a strong performance, scoring a touchdown, hauling in three receptions, and totaling 74 receiving yards.

Wilson continued to share the advice he gave Pickens throughout the tough divisional game.

"I thought he did a great job responding but I just think he just has to understand that when you are one of the best wide receivers in the world, everyone is going to have their eyes on you," Wilson said. "You gotta understand to stay neutral, stay poised in those moments. Still, bring the excitement, don’t change that."

Wilson noted that Pickens was very receptive to feedback, adding that several team leaders were actively supporting the young receiver. Late in the game, captain Cam Heyward was seen having a positive conversation with Pickens, while Head Coach Mike Tomlin also spoke with him both during and after the game.

Tomlin later acknowledged that Pickens needs to mature, a sentiment Wilson echoed, advising Pickens to focus on making big plays without the unnecessary celebrations.
