There is no doubt that the Pittsburgh Steelers have had one of their best offseasons in recent memory. During free agency, they were able to add a future Hall of Fame cornerback in Patrick Peterson, as well as a Super Bowl Champion and 2023 Pro Bowl alternate offensive lineman in Isaac Seumalo. In the NFL Draft, the Steelers miraculously got their future at the offensive tackle position with Broderick Jones, as well as a superstar potential cornerback in Joey Porter Jr. These are just a few of the big additions that they got this year. One guy that has flown under the radar as an addition is linebacker Kwon Alexander.

One Of The Many Additions To This Elite Defense That The Steelers Have Been Able To Create
Alexander has always been a player that has flown under the radar throughout his career. In 2015, he made the PFWA All-Rookie Team and in 2017, he was able to make the Pro Bowl. During his career so far, he has recorded 590 tackles, eight interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, and 12.5 sacks. At 29 years old, his expectations going into 2023 should be much of the same as what he's been able to produce throughout his career.
Although it is just preseason right now, he has made his name known when on the field. In the team's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Alexander laid a huge blow that would result in a penalty. This hit also led to a $43,709 fine for unnecessary roughness. This toughness however, is something that we should expect more of from him in the future.

Alexander is one of the many additions to this elite defense that the Steelers have been able to create. With his help, the team should look much like they once did when they had their hard-hitting identity like in 2008 and with the Steel Curtain.

Alexander's Biggest Hurdle
The toughest moment of Alexander's career came during his rookie season in a game against the Atlanta Falcons. He would play in this game less than 48 hours after he lost his little brother. His brother passed away after he was shot during a fight in their hometown of Anniston, Alabama. Although this had to be one of the hardest moments of Alexander's life, he played arguably the best game of his career.
He recorded 11 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery in an intense 23-20 overtime victory. After the game he made it obvious that this game was dedicated to his brother.
"He was my little brother, but I know he'd want me to be strong for him, and I came out here and dedicated this game to him. [I was] very determined because [he] wanted me to do it. All he wanted me to do is ball, so dedicated it to him."
The Steelers once again travel back to Atlanta on Thursday, which would have to bring back memories from this moment for Alexander. Steelers reporter Missi Matthews recently sat down with Alexander, as he tried to put into words what that game was like.
"I don't really remember now; I just feel like he [his brother] took over my whole body. I just went out there and played for him with everything that was happening."
Alexander has had a few bumps in the road throughout his career, but should be able to finish it at a high level. Fans should have high expectations for him this season as he has a chance to be a true leader for this linebacker core.
