Steelers RB Najee Harris Refuses To Answer If Pittsburgh Has "Team-First Players" After Crushing Week 11 Loss

Frustration is growing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's their first loss since Week 8, but the performances continue to leave a lot to be desired. On Sunday, they lost to the Cleveland Browns, who were led by their backup rookie quarterback. After the game, several players were notably frustrated with the 13-10 loss, which was a very winnable game. The offensive players seemed to be the most frustrated, as they were not good throughout.

Steelers running back Najee Harris has had an up-and-down third NFL season, as backup Jaylen Warren has often times looked better than the former first-rounder.

Despite the team's recent success in the win column, running back Najee Harris acknowledged their formula of victory isn't sustainable. We saw that on Sunday, and this time, it translated to a loss. The Steelers have been outgained in all 10 games thus far, yet remain 6-4. Via Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Harris had an opportunity to answer if Pittsburgh has "team-first players," and he didn't exactly give an affirmative response.

"Do I think anyone has a team-first [attitude] on this team? I'd rather not talk about teammates, I'd rather talk about me, my performance, questions about me."

He may be trying to hold show some accountability with himself, but it's an interesting response from the Steelers running back nonetheless. Harris didn't have a great performance against a stout Browns defense. On the day, he had 12 carries for 35 yards, his third-lowest total of the season. Meanwhile, backup Jaylen Warren had the best game of his career.

With Najee Harris' continued inconsistencies, Steelers backup running back Jaylen Warren has built the case to be the starter moving forward.

The second-year running back had nine carries for 129 yards, which included a 74-yard touchdown to open the second half. Despite the impressive numbers, Warren somehow got just one carry after that long touchdown early in the third quarter. The coaching staff continued to stick with Harris, and it didn't pay off. Warren is now coming off his second consecutive 100-yard game, while his counterpart hasn't had one all season.

Do The Steelers Have A Bigger Issue Brewing?

There were plenty of interesting comments from around the locker room after the difficult Week 11 loss. During the contest, a Steelers wide receiver was seen visibly frustrated once again. It wasn't George Pickens this time around, but rather, veteran Diontae Johnson. Rookie offensive tackle Broderick Jones supposedly had to pull Johnson away from the situation.

Harris didn't exactly answer whether or not there are team-first players on the squad, which could be directed at several players. As we know, the wide receivers have stirred up quite a bit of drama over the past few weeks. The vibes in Pittsburgh aren't high, certainly not reflective of a team that's 6-4 and in the playoff picture still. The defense continues to carry the team despite being without several key members.

Steelers Kenny Pickett

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett (#8) stands on the field at St. Vincent College as Pittsburgh practice during 2023 training camp in Latrobe, PA.

Unfortunately, offense remains one of the worst units in all of football. Specifically, quarterback Kenny Pickett continues to look like he's not the long-term answer for the Steelers. He was quite frustrated when speaking to the media after the game, whether it was due to his own performance and/or his teammates'. The second-year quarterback has yet to eclipse 240 passing yards in a game this season. If the team manages to lose to the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, the criticisms will get even louder.

What are your thoughts on these comments from Harris? Do you think the team has a bigger problem brewing in the locker room with too many "me-first" players? What else went wrong in the Week 11 loss to the Browns? Should Warren become the primary starter over Harris? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, as well as on our social media sites, yinz!
