Former Steelers Great Antonio Brown Pondering What NFL Team To Retire With After 12-Year Career

Former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver, Antonio Brown hasn't played in the NFL since 2021. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut him after he took off his jersey and stormed off the field against the New York Jets. Despite being out of the league for over two years now, he remains in the headlines on a consistent basis for all the wrong reasons. That comes thanks in large part to his Twitter/X account @AB84.

Former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown's NFL career ended in the most bizarre of ways, as he took off his jersey and left the field in 2021 which led to his release from the Buccaneers.

Brown (whose account is a must-follow for entertainment purposes), has done it again. He was back at it on Wednesday, this time with a question for his followers. It seems that he is debating on which NFL team he should retire with: the Steelers or Buccaneers.

"Should I retire a Steeler or Tampon [Tampa] Bay Buc F** โ€ฆโ€ฆ.?!!"

Now, logically, the Steelers would be the runaway option with zero debate. Unfortunately, logic doesn't apply with Brown oftentimes. Brown spent nine of his 12 NFL seasons in Pittsburgh and had his best success with the AFC North team. Essentially, all of his major accolades came with the Steelers, minus the lone Super Bowl he won that came in 2020 with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers - a season in which Brown played just 11 games total.

Former Steelers star Antonio Brown built a close relationship with QB Tom Brady, as he spent the final three years of his career with him in New England and Tampa Bay.

In fact, Brown appeared in just one Super Bowl with the Steelers, which was in the early portion of his career. At that point, he wasn't quite a superstar yet, and the Steelers ended up losing to the Green Bay Packers. All seven of Brown's career Pro Bowl appearances came with the Steelers, which also included four All-Pro selections. Many fans look back at the years of him, Ben Roethlisberger, and Le'Veon Bell and wonder how they didn't win a Super Bowl.

Where Did The Steelers WR Rank Amongst All-Time Greats?

The "Killer B's" gave fans some of the most memorable moments of the last 15 years in Pittsburgh. Brown had one of the best stretches of any wide receiver ever. While he is still considered a great wideout because of it, he truly could have became a top-five player at his position. Unfortunately, Brown got in the way of those possibilities with his issues off the field and in some cases, even on the field.

Over the last year, there has been multiple instances in which an order has been put out for Brown's arrest. He's failed to pay child support, which has led to run-ins with the police. Of course, he famously "owned" the Albany Empire in the National Arena League. At one point, he said that he was going to step onto the field for the Empire. The team was eventually kicked out of the league for Brown's actions (or lack thereof).

Former Steelers receiver Antonio Brown used to be the top story for his highlight reel play, but now he continues to be in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Throughout the fall, the former wideout has tweeted out his thoughts on the Steelers multiple times. He even suggested that he would be a good replacement for Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada, who was finally fired just over a week ago. This is all without even mentioning all of the lawsuits that Brown has faced since exiting the NFL. It's an all-around mess, and Wednesday's tweet from Brown shows he's still not in the right mental state.

What are your favorite memories from the prime of Brown's playing days? Do you think he should retire as a Steeler, or a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, as well as on our social media sites, yinz!
